Description
A series of experiments on pool boiling heat transfer in sodium were carried out on horizontally supported cylindrical test heater under pressures ranging from 0.6 to 32 kPa. Nucleate boiling heat transfer coefficient was little affected by the variation of liquid subcooling. Local nucleate boiling heat transfer coefficients were dependent on the peripheral position on the test heater. Critical heat fluxes were measured for the liquid heads of 50, 100 and 150 mm. Empirical formulae to express the effects of pressure and of subcooling on the critical heat fluxes were proposed. (author)
