Theoretical oscillator strengths for ultraviolet lines of doubly-ionized elements of astrophysical interest
Description
New oscillator strengths of ultraviolet lines (1464 <= lambda <= 2734 A) in the spectra of Sc(III), Ti(III), V(III), Cr(III), Mn(III), Fe(III), Co(III), Ni(III), Cu(III) and Zn(III) are calculated. The lines studied belong to the 3dsup(n)4s - 3dsup(n)4p transition array (n = 0 to 9). The radial wavefunctions are obtained by using an adaptation of the Scaled Thomas-Fermi method. A detailed comparison of oscillator strengths computed by this method and by the Hartree-Fock method (in both dipole length and dipole velocity formalisms) is also presented. (author)
