Description
Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in Brazil. Radiation therapy is often indicated to eradicate this disease. The prostate is surrounded by normal-healthy tissues, which receive dose within the limit for them to recover. In order to calculate the absorbed dose in the target organ and organs of risk, the thermoluminescent lithium fluoride detectors were used within an Alderson RANDO anthropomorphic simulator. In this work, the experimental results were compared with the results obtained from the computational model developed in Monte Carlo code. The results obtained are in agreement with the expected ones, smaller than 5%. (author)
