Description

The role of colloids in the retention and transportation of contaminants through geologic media have been the subject of much debate in particular concerning the competition with immobile phase solids and the transport over substantial distances. This article describes some of the attributes of colloid competition with immobile phase, colloid generation, deposition and transport and the possible role of natural organic matter colloids in the enhancement of radionuclide transport in soils and groundwaters.
