Description

Observable distributions of a second muon, arising from the production and semileptonic decay of a charmed particle in μN scattering, are calculated to compare with recent Fermilab data. Mechanisms are assumed that fit neutrino-induced dilepton data, namely production via parton fragmentation and decay involving one or more kaons. The experimental energy and angular cuts for the second muon greatly reduce the dimuon rate and explain an apparent high threshold W > 9 GeV. (Auth.)
