Protect your nuclear investment with proper water chemistry
Description
The Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) have recently shown increased interest and activity in plant-chemistry programs and issues. The level of interest and concern for plant chemistry was precipitated by several major chemistry-related corrosion problems appearing in nuclear steam plants, especially PWR steam generators and boiling-water-reactor (BWR) piping. This article addresses only PWR steam-plant corrosion problems, which include stress-corrosion cracking (SCC), wastage, denting, pitting, and intergranular attack (IGA) in steam generators
