Description

Superheated bubble detector (SBD) detects radiation via phase transition of superheated droplets in polymer gel to visible bubbles triggered by the energy deposition by radiation. Because the unit size concerning the phase transition is considered to be up to μm, we expect the response of SBD reflects microdosimetric information of incident radiation and an index of biological effectiveness. The current status of the R and D of SBD and its response to therapeutic carbon beam is introduced. (author)
