X-ray and radionuclide diagnostic techniques for osteoporosis

Available data on the use of X-ray and radionuclide techniques in the diagnosis of osteoporosis are generalized. It is shown that because of the considerable spreading of osteoporosis the real demand for wide osteodensitometry performance exists. Absorptiometry may be widely used in clinic practice due to its accuracy, reproducibility, low cost, low radiation doses. Quantitative computerized tomography permits to obtain the absolute values of bone tissue density.
