Description

The Mayneord Lecture at Radiology 1987 describes the existing arrangements in the U.K. for monitoring radionuclides in the environment and for dealing with emergencies. It then reviews studies carried out by the N.R.P.B. during the year following the Chernobyl accident. The economic aspects, refinement of models of environmental transfer and future emergency planning are discussed briefly. (U.K.)
