Few-baryon systems in the chiral soliton model

Description
The results of the variational calculations of the structure of classical solitons with baryon number B ≤ 12 in the framework of the original SU(2) Skyrme model are presented. After the quantization procedure these solitons could be identified with nuclei. Quantum mechanical Hamiltonian for the nuclear-like states in the SU(2) - Skyrme model has been obtained in the framework of the collective method. The frequences of the breathing mode have been calculated. The calculations lead to ℎω ∼ A-1/3 behavior for light nuclei with mass number A ≤ 12. 26 refs., 4 tabs
