Dislocations and slip systems in indium single crystals

  • 1. Institut National Polytechnique, 54 - Nancy (France)

Description

Indium single crystals have been studied by X-ray topography at room temperature. Dislocations usually appear as straight segments, with Burgers vectors of the 1/2 <110> or 1/2 <101> types, the orientation of which minimizes the elastic energy. Dislocation glide has been observed which could be due to the stresses arising from the crystal weight. Various slip systems were identified. (author)
