Description

In this document it is summarized the most important actions performed on the non-ionizing radiations issue in Peru. The main objective of this study is to have a broad overview of the levels and compliance with international standards for health protection of the main sources for exposure to non ionizing radiation. It includes the assessment of health effects, which is based on several important international documents specially those which were conducted within the frame of the International Electromagnetic Field Project from the World Health Organization (WHO), the most important evaluations that were carried out from 2002 to 2007 for electricity networks (Extremely low frequencies) and the results of the main Peruvian assessments on telecommunications services(Radiofrequencies) and systems carried out from 2000-2006. This work was carried out on a nationwide basics through representative samples of the sources which included the measurement at nearly 1500 locations for electricity networks and more than 500 locations for telecommunications networks and for electricity networks the measurements were done using electromagnetic field analyzers with electric and magnetic probes while for telecommunication systems the measurements were broadband using electromagnetic field analyzers and narrow band using spectrum analyzers. Finally this paper provides some important conclusions and recommendations. (author)
