EPR and optical absorption spectral studies of Cr3+ ions doped in nickel maleate tetrahydrate single crystals

Description

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies have been carried out on Cr3+ ions doped in nickel maleate tetrahydrate single crystals at room temperature. From the observed EPR spectra, the spin-Hamiltonian parameters g, D and E have been evaluated. The optical absorption spectrum has been studied for chromium maleate tetrahydrate single crystal. The optical absorption spectrum exhibits two broad bands characteristic of Cr3+ ions in an octahedral symmetry. From the observed band positions, the crystal field splitting parameter Dq and the Racah interelectronic repulsion parameter B have been evaluated
