Portable gamma spectroscopy for environmental activities measurements

Description

A method for the in-situ measurement of radionuclides in the environment is here described. A mobile integrated waterproof spectrum analyser including HV, amplifier and ADC and a Ge detector is used to survey at 1.10 meter above the ground level limited areas and allows to quantitatively estimate radioactivity. The components can be carried easily by two persons. The capacity of the rechargeable batteries is about 10 hours. Typical detection limits are 4 Bq.kg-1 and 280 Bq.m-2 for 137Cs, 21 Bq.kg-1 and 650 Bq.m-2 for 241Am. (authors). 5 tabs., 4 ills., 2 refs
