Radiation levels: diagrams and numerical values integrated through a graphic interface

Description

This paper describes a system of information to manage the measurement of radiation and surface contamination in nuclear power plant areas, during normal operation, refuelling and inspection. The application integrates and uses graphic diagrams captured with a scanner and stored in TIFF files which represent the different plant areas with their measurement points and an alphanumeric data base containing historic information of the measurements taken at such points. The system uses an advanced window-type graphical interface which includes fold-out menus, simultaneous use of several windows, push-button selection, scrolling functions and, most important, total integration between the graphic displays and the alphanumerical data base, causing any variation in the one to automatically affect the other for example producing a colour change in the measuring points when established contamination or radiation values are exceeded. Finally in order to facilitate the analysis of information the user can also view the evolution of the values measured through time. (Author)
