Contemporary diagnostic imaging of lumbar pain

The aim of the presentation is to share authors experience in the field of image diagnostics of the lumbar pain and to discuss the necessity of setting criteria for good radiological practice in specific conditions. For one year period in the Clinic of CT and Magnetic Resonance Tomography at the Medical Academy, Sofia 3245 examinations have been carried out which presents 26% of the total number of CT and MR tomography investigations with a tomograph Somatom 4 Plus and MRI equipment Harmony 1T (Siemens). Different groups of diseases leading to lumbar pain are considered. The capacities of the CT and MR tomography in anatomy studies and proving of pathological processes are discussed
