The condensed mutation in sunflower

Description
Three inbred lines of sunflower were treated with gamma rays. In the progeny of one of these lines, the desired dwarf mutation appeared with a high frequency (23%). The dwarfing was accompanied by various undesirable characteristics (lateness, poor seed production, etc.), for which correction through genetic diversification and selection is in progress. The ratio capitulum diameter/stem height has increased from 1/8 up to 1/3

Apres traitement aux rayons gamma de 3 lignees de tournesol, une seule a fait apparaitre une mutation de nanisme avec une frequence elevee (23%). Le nanisme s'accompagne de divers defauts (tardivete, faible production de graines, etc.) que nous avons commence a corriger par diversification genetique et selection. Le rapport diametre du capitule/hauteur de tige est passe de 1/8 a 1/3Additional details
