Application of myodil in diagnosis of abscesses and cysts of the brain

It is suggested to use myodil emulsion as a contrast substance in cases of abscesses, tumors and parasitic cysts of the brain. The emulsion is prepared by means of the mixing of 1.5 ml myodil and 4.0-5.0 ml cystic liquid at cyst cavity and the same quantity of physiological solutions in the cases of the brain abscesses. Introduction of myodil into the cavity of the cyst or abscess gives clear contour image of the cavity internal surface and it remains upon its walls for a long time. Application of myodil as a contrast substance in cases of cysts and brain abscesses permits to obtain more precise notion of the cavity state, its dimensions, topography as compared to application of air, water-soluble and native oil contrast substances for the same purposes
