Intense muon at J-PARC

  • 1. High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, Tsukuba, Ibaraki (Japan)

Description

At Materials and Life Science Facility of J-PARC, neutrons and muons are to be produced using the proton beam from 3GeV synchrotron. The pulse intensity of muons will be highest in the world. The high intensity muon beam will make it possible to perform experiments on small samples by spatially sharpening the beam. The production efficiency of negative muons will be much better than those at existing facilities owing to the high proton-energy. Experiments on the fundamental physics and on the muon catalyzed fusion using negative muons will be possible in a reasonable beam-time. (K.Y.)
