The influence of ore properties and geometry of measurements upon the value of activation effect of fast neutrons yielded by the Si29(n, p)Al28 reaction

Description

The paper presents the results of experimental and theoretical studies on the effect of borehole diameter and rock composition, moisture and density on the intensity of 28Al gamma radiation recorded on a borehole and produced by the 28Si(n,p)28Al reaction upon irradiation of the rock with 14 MeV neutrons. It is shown that the most significant dependences exhibited by the fast neutron activiation logging results for 28Al are on borehole diameter and ore density. Where borehole diameter vary by more than 8% and ore density by more than 10%, the measurement data must be corrected for these factors. (author)
