Analysis of optimum economic liner design
Description
During the development phase of an HTR the steel liner behaviour for a reinforced or prestressed containment should be analysed. Hereby, it was the scope to elaborate determining liner design criteria by use of parametric numerical studies to obtain a first basis for the liner construction. The investigations should include the overall liner system itself and related structural parts, respectively. Questions of licensibility as well as economic efficiency were to be respected. This last demand, however, led to discussions whether solutions obtained from a rather simplified model could result in sufficient structural judgement or whether these predictions could be too conservative. Therefore it was concluded to compare different models on the basic assumption that they take into consideration contrained loading cases which strengthen the steel liner system far beyond yielding. The final results of the different models are compared with particular respect to decisive structural displacements and strains. It will be demonstrated for which liner areas economic calculations lead to sufficient results without beeing necessarily too conservative. (orig./HP)
