Investigation of conditions for submerged-arc welding of steel 10GN2MFA

  • 1. Vyskumny Ustav Zvaracsky, Bratislava (Czechoslovakia)

Description

The mechanical properties and chemical composition are given for low-alloy MnNiMoV steel designated 10GN2MFA, considered fo dered for the manufacture of parts of the WWER 1000 primary coolant circuit. Wire A-241 and flux VUZ-20 in combination were chosen for welding the steel. The welding and annealing conditions are also presented. Testing the trial welded joints showed that the welded joints met the desired criteria and neither the base material nor the filler metal were susceptible to thermal embrittlement. In the manufacture of steel 10GN2MFA, reduction in strength characteristics of the base material should be taken into consideration in view of welded joint annealing. (J.P.)
