Microstructure and mechanical properties of Mo-ZrC-Cu composites synthesized by reactive melt infiltration of Zr-Cu melt into porous Mo2C preforms at 1300 °C

  • 1. Institute for Advanced Ceramics, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin 150001 (China)

Description

Highlights: • Mo-ZrC-Cu composites have been prepared by reactive melt infiltration. • The grain sizes increase with increasing Zr content in the infiltrator. • Cu and C-rich nano-zones are detected in ZrC grains. • The flexure strength reaches 569 MPa.
