Chemical identification of element 106 by thermochromatographic method

Description

For the first time the chemical identification of element 106 has been accomplished. In comparative gas thermochromatographic studies of (oxo) chlorides of element 106 and of Tungsten reproducible groups of tracks of fission fragments from s.f. of 263 106 were observed in a temperature region of 150-2500 C. This provides evidence that element 106 oxo chloride is similar to the Tungsten compounds. Elements 104, 105 and actinides do not yield volatile compound under the particular experimental conditions
