Development of the new energy technology industry in Finland
Description
Ekono Energy Ltd. conducted a survey of the development of the Finnish wind and solar energy industry from 1986 to 1995. The objective was to assess the evolution of the industry during the national research programme for renewable energy, NEMO, and to estimate how much of the growth was related to the NEMO programme and how much to other factors. High growth rates were observed. In 1994, the sales of the industry was 23 million ECU, in 1986 1 million ECU. The budget for industry sales in 1995 was 37 million ECU. The industry comprised mainly of component manufacturers for wind turbines and the PV system manufacturer/supplier NAPS. The survey was financed by the Technology Development Centre of Finland, TEKES. (author)
