Large and very large K bands in nuclei
Description
Large and very large K intrinsic states in heavy deformed nuclei have been calculated in the Hartree-Fock approximation using -lambdasub(K)Jsup(2) term with the Hamiltonian. For sub(68)sup(158)Er bands with K = 8-, 11-, 12+, 26+, 55+, 60- and 64+ have been calculated. There is significant departure from time-reversal symmetry for the very large K bands. The 55+, 60- and 64+ band energies can be fitted with a formula due to Bohr and Mottelson. Various aspects of these large K bands including their excitation energies, configurations and pairing properties are discussed. (author)
