Ion channels produced by ultrarelativistic electron beams in a magnetized plasma

Description

The ion channels, produced by propagation of ultrarelativistic electron beams in a rarefied plasma along the external magnetic field B0, are described. The channel radius dependence on the B0 value is determined and it is shown, that the longitudinal magnetic field in the channel is always smaller than the external one. The basic plasma characteristics: the electrons velocity field and electron density distribution in the space outside the channel are identified
