  • 1. Power Reactor and Nuclear Fuel Development Corp., Oarai, Ibaraki (Japan). Oarai Engineering Center

Description

Objectives of PSA application for LMFBR in Japan are as follows: Development of PSA technologies for LMFBRs; the current study at PNC is performed for a model plant with an intermediate-sized core; development of a probabilistic systems model and its qualification; systematic assessment to identify dominant accident sequences and contributors to core damage and/or risk to the public; provision of generic safety information to maintain and improve plant safety; development of methodology (computer codes) for Level-1 and -2 PSA for LMFBRs; prioritization of future safety research activities on LMFBRs; considerations of rational guidelines for safety design and safety evaluation for future LMFBRs.
