Description
The vibrational temperature of the CN radical in a jet of a diaphragm-type discharge in vacuum (Pin= 10 Pa) is measured at the afterglow stage. The temperature is determined from emission spectra of the violet system of the B2Σ-X2Σ bands of CN by comparing radiation intensities in bands forming sequences with δv=0 and -1. In experiments with organic plasma-forming material C70O12H15N10Cl3, an equilibrium population of the B2Σ state of CN was achieved in a wide temperature range from 9000 to 4000 K due to a high concentration of molecules (CO, N2) and atoms (C, H, N, Cl, O) in a jet. A kinetic scheme of excitation of CN molecules in a jet is proposed. Using this scheme, the constant of quenching the state CN (B2Σ) by C, H, N, and Cl atoms is estimated at k≥ 10-9 cm3 s-1. 16 refs., 3 figs., 2 tabs
