Dependence of metals strength on their catalytic activity

Description
The correlation between the change of strength properties of metals and their catalytic activity in dissociation reaction of hydrogen-containing medium is investigated. Short-time strength of structural materials that are in the opposite ends and in the middle of the series of catalytic activity of metals is determined in the 20-700 deg C temperature range. Flat samples of the titanium VT1-0 alloy, of chromium base VKh-4 alloy, of nickel base VKh-4A alloy, as well as 12Kh18N10T and St. 3ps steels are tested. It is established that catalytic activity of the metal affects the intensity of medium dissociation, and consequently, the degree of its hydrogenation.
