Fast breeder reactor fuel reprocessing in France
Description
The French FBR fuel reprocessing programme is oriented toward the MAR 600 Project, a 50 t HM/y plant for the reprocessing of CREYS MALVILLE and following 1500 MWe FBR fuel. The TOR project, launched for raising the capacity of the Marcoule Pilot Plant to 5 t HM/y of Phenix-type fuel and for increasing the R and D potential, plays a leading part in this programme. The other R and D programmes are implemented by laboratory investigations, chemical engineering, and industrial full scale prototypes testing, chiefly for mechanical treatment, continuous dissolution, clarification, extraction cycles, PuO2 preparation, and waste treatment and conditioning
