Measurement of the electron density with Hβ line broadening by Stark effect

Description
Line broadening by Stark effect can be an efficient diagnostic mean for the determination of electron density in a plasma without perturbation, in particular for Balmer lines of the hydrogen atom allowing the determination of electron density with an accuracy better than 10 per cent. However, for arc plasma at low static pressure the domain of application has narrow limits
