Phase chemistry and compositional variability during processing in the Bi-Pb-Ca-Sr-Cu-O system

  • 1. Raychem Corp., Menlo Park, CA (USA)

Description

The formation of superconducting materials in the Bi-Pb-Ca-Sr-Cu-O system was studied to determine the processing parameters and mechanisms responsible for the achievement of superconductivity above 100 K. Non-stoichiometry in the 3-layer superconducting phase (Tc ≅ 100 K) is apparently necessary for formation and appears to be manifested by large vacancy concentrations on the non-Cu-layers of the structure
