From the psi to charm: The experiments of 1975 and 1976
Description
The lecture is presented given by B. Richter at the awarding ceremony of the Nobel Prize for Physics for 1976. The history is described of experiments which led to the discovery of new psi particles. Also described is a four-quark model and the grounds are explained for the introduction of a new quark system, the charmonium. (Z.J.)
