Description
The clinical-diagnostical value of alpha-fetoproteins (AFP) compared with the use of common less sensitive methods was tested. The results obtained clearly showed that in the clinical-internal-surgical sphere the main importance of radioimmunological AFP-determinations lies in the improved supervision of the development of hepatomas in patients suffering from hepatic cirrhosis. In the pre-operative differential diagnosis of testicle tumors, these determinations help to optimize the therapeutic measures and are also useful for the case control of hepatoma and teratoma patients. Abstract (German)
