Description

Elemental indium is 96% 115In which is one gsub(9/2) proton short of the closed shell at N=50. The neutron measurements in this study were confined to the total and elastic scattering cross sections. With its superior resolution and non-selective population of low-lying levels it has been possible to identify at least 35 levels up to an excitation of 2442 keV. Neutron inelastic scattering cross sections for individual states in 115In were obtained from (n,n1,γ) measurements. The study has extended the knowledge of the decay scheme and provided a basis for an optical model which quantitatively describes the observations
