Description
Based on the existing WENDELSTEIN 7-AS (W 7-AS) device the further advanced device WENDELSTEIN 7-X (W 7-X) is proposed for realization. It will be a large machine in the range of next step devices, aiming at plasma parameters which can be extrapolated to reactor size. This contribution presents the main design parameters of the machine and demonstrates how steady state plasma operation will be achieved. (orig./DG)
