A novel continuous squeeze casting-extrusion process for grain refinement and property improvement in AZ31 alloy
- 1. State Key Laboratory of Materials Processing and Die & Mould Technology, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, 430074 (China)
Description
A novel continuous squeeze casting-extrusion (CSCE) process was proposed to prepare high strength and toughness AZ31 alloy. The average grain size of AZ31 alloy after CSCE was reduced to 2.43 μm. An excellent combination of the ultimate tensile strength of 321 MPa and the elongation of 14.7% was achieved.
