Description

The positron lifetime experiments as a function of fast neutron irradiation dose and of annealing temperature in the YBa2Cu3O7 superconductors have been performed. The positron lifetime is found to increase as a function of dose of fast neutron irradiation up to 9.0 X 1017 n/cm2. From the positron results, we find that two types of defects are generated due to neutron irradiation: cationic vacancies (τ ≅ 230 ps) and a large void (τ ≅ 465 ps). A direct correlation between the intensity of large voids (size = 25 ± 5 A) and the critical current density is found
