Verification of the two-criteria approach for crack growth initiation of an axially cracked cylinder

Description

The two-criteria approach was used to predict the pressures at the initiation of crack growth of an axially cracked cylinder under various crack depths and temperature distributions. Also, the J-integral, to consider the effects of the thermal stress field, was calculated by the finite element method. The results obtained by the two-criteria approach and the J(IC) criterion were compared to verify the accuracy of the two-criteria approach. (orig./HP)
