Description

The distribution of naturally occurring radionuclides n hot spring and river water within the Tatun Volcano Group area was studied by means of liquid scintillation counting method, and alpha- and beta-spectrometry. The distribution of uranium, thorium and radium in river water is richer from east to west. The concentrations of uranium, thorium and radium in hot spring are 0.18-6.6 ppb, 0.17-17.8 ppb and 6.6-68 mBqL-1, respectively. The concentrations of them in river water are 0.064-3.82 ppb, 0.11-10.9 ppb and 3.49 mBqL-1, respectively. The concentrations mentioned above both in hot spring and river water were found to be dependent on temperature and pH value. They are increased with higher temperature and pH value. This implies that the hot and acidic water is more corrosive to the rocks. (1 fig., 1 tab.)
