Phase equilibria in Fe-FeNb2O6-Nb2O5-Nb system

Description
Using the method of e.m.f. and X-ray phase analysis, an attempt is made to determine phase relations in Fe-FeNb2O6-Nb2O5-Nb system and thermodynamic conditions of their existence. It is established that in this system at 1270-1800 K the following three-phase equilibria are observed: Fe-FeNb2O6-NbO2, FeNb-NbO2-NbO and FeMn2O6-NbO2-Nb2O5. Conditions of existence of the given equilibria and variation of the free Gibbs enrgies during FeNb2O6 and NbO2 formation according to the following reactions Fe+2NbO2+O2=FeNb2O6 and NbO+0.502=NbO2
