Laser induced selective decomposition reactions

  • 1. Dow Chemical Co., Midland, MI

Description

This paper studies the multiphoton infrared decomposition of CF2HC1 to generate CF2, which subsequently reacts with O2, ultimately producing CF2O. The selective decomposition of 2,4,5-Trichlorophenoxyacetic acid is studied. A summary of the data gathered in the present study is contained in the paper. A section on the laser induced decomposition of DNA is given. The photon sources for the work described entailed the use of lasers, but in many cases metal arc lamps undoubtedly could be employed
