Fluctuations of exoemission currents accompanying the initial stages of materials fracture at pitting corrosion and mechanical stresses

Description

A new aspect of exoemission phenomena accompanying the processes of fracture of metals and polymer materials at corrosion, mechanical and thermomechanical actions has been considered. Fluctuations of exoemission currents of negative charges, which are a consequence of the occurrence of local electric fields of high strength have been observed and investigated. The mechanism of fluctuations is discussed from the stand-point of break-down phenomena-streamer discharges resultant from a simultaneous formation of micropoints and gas release at the initial stages of materials fracture
