Utilization of Radioisotope Sr-90 Thermoelectric Generators at Mayak PA. Agenda item 6 (Presentation in English)

Description

The presentation Management of Radioisotope Source by Valery Gorn from Mayak, Russia, briefly described the technological process of handling radioactive heat sources of Sr-90 at Mayak Production Association. These sources had earlier been extracted from Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators. The heat sources were removed from transport containers and placed in canisters with vitrified high level RW. Then the canisters were placed in containers and relocated to a storage facility for vitrified high level radioactive waste at the Mayak plant.
