Structure of interaction products of anhydrous neodymium perchlorate with phosphorus oxychloride according to vibrational spectroscopy data

Description

Compounds, separated at different stages of Nd(ClO4)3 interaction with POCl3 for composition of Nd(ClO4)3x3POCl3 (1), Nd(ClO4)3x5POCl3 (2), NdP6O12Cl19 (3) and their thermal decomposition products are investigated by Raman effect and IR spectroscopy. It is established, that in compound 1 Nd3+ ion forms nine coordination bonds: six - with oxigen of bidentate ClO4 ions and three - with oxygen of POCl3. Composition of compound 2, as compared to compound 1, includes POCl3 slightly-associated molecules. Thermal decomposition of compound 2 occurs stage-by-stage: two POCl3 molecules are splitted off initially, then the product, containing chlorophosphate and neodymium perchlorate, is formed. Structure of compound 3 corresponds to the structure of neodymium chloroultraphosphate, where POCl3 molecule is included clathrately, and NdP5=11Cl6xPOCl3 formula demonstrates it. Thermal decomposition of compound 3 results in neodymium metaphosphate with stage-by-stage POCl3 molecules splitting off
