Phase composition and phase diagrams of the Ca3(VO4)2 - M3(VO4)2 systems where M - Mg, Zn

Description

Search of new matrices for luminophores has involved a study of phase composition and state diagrams for the systems containing orthovanadates of the metals of the second group, i.e. Ca3(VO4)2 - Mg3(VO4)2 and Ca3(VO4)2 - Zn3(VO4)2. The existence of compounds with the structure of defect vanadium garnets in the systems has been confirmed. These compounds have been found to melt with decomposition at 1180 +- 5 deg C (Casub(2.5-2.75) Mgsub(2.0-1.75) V3O12) and 905 +- 5 deg C (Casub(2.5-2.75) Znsub(2.0-1.75) V3O12). The garnet structure compounds in these systems display maximum luminescence
