Description
We analyse energy spectra of electrons resulting from Ar9+ collisions on a polycristalline W-surface, measured by de Zwart. We ascribe structures near 212 eV to LMM Auger transitions in the projectiles, although the tabulated Auger electron energies are lower by ∼ 7 eV. We obtain agreement between calculated and measured spectral electron distributions by taking two effects into account: (i) electrons are assumed to be ejected from completely neutralized projectiles and (ii) their energy is increased by the action of a surface charge
