Resonant formation of dtμ mesic molecules in the triple H2+D2+T2 mixture

Description

The process of the formation of the resonant dtμ molecule tμ + HD → [(dtμ)pee] is considered and its rate λdtμ-p is calculated as a function of the energy of the mesic atom tμ and the temperature of the H2 + D2 + T2 mixture. It is shown that at the energy E = 0.2 eV and the temperature T = 30 K the rate λdtμ-p reaches the value 2 x 1010 s-1. At T = 900 K the resonant formation rate averaged over the maxwellian distribution on the energies of the tμ atom is λdtμ-p ≅ 2.3x109 s-1. The consequences of these results are discussed. (orig.)
