Application of inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry for the determination of thorium in zircaloy
- 1. Nuclear Fuel Complex, Hyderabad (India). Control Lab.
Description
The paper describes an inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometric (ICP-OES) method for the determination of trace levels of thorium (5-50 ppm) in various grades of zircaloy. The method involves dissolution of the sample and subsequent measurement of thorium line intensity at 374.118 nm, after excitation in an argon plasma. Results show excellent recovery of thorium in synthetic standards and the method is precise within 5% RSD at 10 ppm level. (author). 5 refs., 1 tab
